- How many books and other materials are in the library?
The library has a rich collection of tangible books, reference materials, periodicals, magazines, laws, rules and regulations, etc.
Books- ICAB library has more than 25,000 tangible books covering various disciplines specially Accounting, Business & Finance, Auditing, Taxation, Economics, Information Technology and Law etc.
Reference Materials-ICAB library has lots of reference materials, i.e., Dictionaries, Thesaurus, Multilingual Dictionaries, Encyclopedia, Britannica, etc.
Periodicals & Magazines- 02 periodicals Reader digest and the Economist are subscribed.

- How many books am I allowed to borrow at a time?
Only ICAB members shall be entitled to borrow book(s) from the Library. Member shall not be allowed to borrow more than three books at a time for a maximum period of 30 days against Library card. Within this period of 30 days, the borrowed book(s) will be returned or renewed for a further maximum period of 30 days. Renewal shall not be allowed for more than two consecutive periods
- How many times a user can renew a material?
Loan items can be renewed two times, providing they have not been reserved by another borrower. User will be unable to renew items if they have any fines or an item has reached its maximum renewals allowance.
User need to return any items reaching maximum renewals to the Library. User can come to the library and renew their books manually. User can also renew their library books in online.
- What daily newspaper does the library have?
ICAB library has 3 daily newspapers both Bengali and English. Newspapers are The Daily Prothom Alo, The Daily Star, The Financial Express.
- Who can use the library?
All students, and members of the Institute of the Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh are welcome to use the library.
- Where can I get my library Identification card?
Every student of ICAB shall require obtaining an ID card from the Librarian on payment of requisite fees to use the Library facilities. The ID card is not transferable. Requisites Fees may be deposited to the Accounts Section of ICAB and the money receipt along with two stamp size photographs and photocopy of student ID card/CC certificate are to be submitted to the Librarian for preparation of ID Card.
- How long my membership is valid?
Membership is valid for 1 year.
- How can I find help searching for books in online catalogs?
Go to the (http://13.229.11.254/) link for searching books using Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). Library users can search books by Author, Title, Keyword, and Subject and also check the status of books.
- I cannot find the book I want to borrow, what should I do?
Be sure that when you find a book on the catalog, is it available or issued? If you see that it is available, then writes down the correct call number in order to locate where the book is shelved. If you do not find it on the shelves, check where the library keeps the book awaiting for shelving. If you still cannot find it, see if somebody is already reading it in the library.
If the book is not already borrowed by another member, please notify the librarian so that they can search it for you.
- Are there any fines or fees if I return my books late?
If any borrower fails to return borrowed book(s) within 30 days from the expiry date of issue/reissue, thereof, a late fee of Tk. 5.00 (taka five) only per day for each book shall be charged.
- What happens if I lose or damage a book?
If any member fails to return the borrowed book(s) within the stipulated time damaged / defaced the replacement cost shall be charged. If any book is damage or deface by any student the replacement cost thereof, equivalent to three time’s current market price of the book(s) shall be charged.
- What is DSpace or Institutional Repository?
ICAB Space is the digital repository of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh. It collects, preserves, and distributes the research and ICAB publications produced by the ICAB.
